Emilien is a native of BURKINA FASO where, as a young city dweller, he discovers the anglo-saxon rock in the 70's and plays bass and guitar. His meeting with the master balafonist MAMA KOHNATE (leader of th FARAFINA group) provokes his attraction to what has to become his favorite instrument: the balafon.

He arrives in Brussels as a student in 79, precisely when the black music seduces the old continent and Emilien plays with musicians of varied styles and from very different horizons what leads him to create the group LAMOGOYA in 1982.

He teaches percussions in the frame of the Non-Profit Association LAMOGOYA WORLD RHYTM ACADEMY which he founded in 1990. This association also produces several shows built around african cultures, as e.g. the group "LA FËTE AU VILLAGE" that presents a mix of african culture based on sings, danses and percussions by artists from Zaïre (now Congo) and Burkina Faso.
