"I felt the need to practice tango, but also that of innovating", explains Laura, adding: "Tango in not always tragical, but always deep. It involves a lot of poetry. I want it to really be sung, that there should be some space to tell stories". The first common record of Laura Lahera and Fulvio Paredes hilights their approach of the tango based on a permanent and deep dialog between voice and guitar.
Tango was for them originally no more than their parents' music. It is however only much later, after having toured the world as professional musicians, that Laura and Fulvio, rediscovered, each on its own, the way to the tango. Not in fact to identically reproduce the tunes of their infancy, but with the intent to deliver the whole poetry proper to the tango.
Getting rid of the traditional singer-accompaniment model, and not eager to make dance, Laura and Fulvio reinvent the songs of their childhood.
Fulvio, whose carreer led him successively in Brasil, Switserland and Germany, rediscovered the tango by playing with Dino Saluzzi in 1994. |
