| No hagan bandera
South American and Caribbean rhythms, tango, jazz, guitars, violin,
voices, cajon, congas, etc... make the inspiration and the substance
of this fine and authentic music, in a unique project that matches
the musicianship of these three exceptional South American musicians.
Why "La Tregua (Truce)"? An authentic truce in the battle
of everyday life.
The battle to remain active in an musical geography which imooses
the blind aesthetics of an implacable market. La Tregua is this
and this only, a truce. It has no political meaning, no strategic
undertones, it does not promote roots or a revolution. Nor does
it claim to establish an aesthetical resistance—it’s
a deliberate act of pure freedom, a breath of freash air, gratuitous,
unexpected and paradoxically necessary.
Maybe that’s also why La Tregua’s first opus is called
“no hagan bandera” (keep a low profile or, more litterally,
don’t wave a flag). Maybe we are tired of the obsession to
show symbols of one’s origin, the artefacts of one’s
identity. For once, and because what it’s all about here is
a truce, the stake is not to stress our difference, our obviously
foreign origins (did you notice that we come from the South and
from another continent ?) There is no flag to denounce our particularity.
