| Quatre - Nicolas Kummert / Jacques Pili / Marco Locurcio / Lieven Venken + Bert Joris 4 is a new project formed in Brussels by 4 young musicians
and based on original compositions. After playing and recording
with one another in different bands, the idea came up to get together
and work on a common approach towards music, where melody is the
fundament. Nicolas Kummert, graduate of the Brussel jazz conservatory, studied with Jeroen Van Herzeele and John Ruocco. lle recorded with Alexi Tuomarila Quartet (with whom he won the first price at the international jazz contest of Hoeilaart) , Alchimie and Pierre Van dormael and performed also in Australia, Canada, France, Finland, Marocco,... Marco Locurcio, graduate of the Brussel jazz conservatory and the Musicians Institute of Los Angeles, studied with ScottHenderson, John Scofield and Peter llertmans. He recorded three CDs on his name and performed in Italy, France, Los Angeles and Belgium. He also composed and recorded with several pop and rock artists. Jacques Pili, graduate of the Brussels jazz conservatory, studied with Michel Hatzigeorgiou. He is at the moment very busy touring France and Canada with Belgian top singer Maurane. He also recorded in several other jazz and pop projects such as Mattis, Gaspesie, Colours... Lieven Venken, graduate of the Lemmens Institute. studied with Dré Pallemaerts and, in New-York, with Billy Hart. Very active in the Belgian jazz scene, he recorded with, among others, Diederik Wissels and Bart Defoort, Jonathan Morritz, Lea Gillmore. He also played with Mark Turner and Kris Defoort, Steve Houben and toured in N.Y. and L.A. with Brian Lynch, Pete McCann, and Jonathan Morritz. |
