Lisa Greindl (Bao Merut) vocal, piano, keyboards, electronics, composer Lisa Greindl was born on November 20, 1996 in Brussels and was immersed in music from an early age with musician parents. His Brazilian mother is a flutist and his Belgian father is a guitarist and bassist. She quickly showed her musical gifts and took courses at the Jacques Dalcroze Rhythmic Institute from the age of 5 in rhythmics, harmony, piano improvisation and music theory. Bach's music attracted her at a very young age and after having learned one of his preludes by herself at the age of 10, she then studied more specifically classical piano with Pascale del Marmol at the Waterloo Academy of Music. and then in private lessons until he was 18 years old. Around 12 years old, passionate about classical music - Bach, Debussy, Prokofiev being among her favorites - and finding particularly tasteless the popular music of her time, she discovered English progressive rock of the 70s (Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson ...), and oriental music. In 2011-2012 she spent a year and a half in São Paulo where she took singing lessons with Tatiana Parra. On her return to Belgium, she learned the cello and discovered current electronic music, notably through the “Detroit - Berlin axis” (Carl Craig, Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills, Moritz von Oswald, Marcel Dettmann, Francesco Tristano…) . She then began to experiment, compose and record her ideas with electronic instruments and followed in 2015 a training in production and electronic music at the SAE Institute in Brussels and various private lessons in composition or sound design. From 2013 to 2015 she also took theater classes at the Kleine Academy, musical education at the Jacques Dalcroze Institute, and Cinema at ESRA in Brussels.
Lisa Greindl's music, which she broadcasts under her artist name Bao Merüt, is sometimes instrumental and purely electronic mixing minimalist rhythmic and techno-tending tones with haunting and syncopated motifs of Eastern or Latin inspiration, sometimes acoustic when 'she uses the piano treated with subtle electronic effects, or soars into a more hovering register - but still electro - when she sings texts in Portuguese or adapts Brazilian themes.
Bao Merüt started performing in public in Belgium in 2017, in collaboration with his partner Zedel.
In 2019 she co-wrote with Michel Hatzigorgiou and produced with Zedel the piece "Imposture (I met the Devil)" intended to be part of an installation by Romanian artist Claudia Radulescu as part of the Europalia Romania 2019-2020 festival. in Brussels. This track, available on all download platforms, is also part of the vinyl "Imposture" alongside its 6 remixes made by artists like Walter Hus or Buscemi and the title "Variation on the Devil's theme". |
