Maxime Tirtiaux Maxime Tirtiaux began classical guitar at age 8, but quickly abandoned the academic path for the electric guitar and started learning to play in a group, setting up a rock band (FAUN ) with a bunch of friends in Nivelles. In the following years, he took courses at the music academy of Nivelles (music theory, jazz ensemble) and various summer courses in the Académie d'été de Wallonie, and occasionally with private teachers (Bernard Lhoir, Renaud Dardenne etc.). Upon entering college, he turned more and more towards jazz, gypsy swing and traditional acoustic music. This is where he met Gilles Kremer and starts the project that will become Muziek de Singe. During his studies, he practices the guitar and gets involved in the so-called festive music linked with street theater. In 2006, despite his fresh master degree in agricultural engineering, music appears as an essential and daily activity. While Muziek de Singe gains experience, he also creats, together with some friends from Louvain-la-Neuve, the band called KermesZ à l'est that has become one of the most well-known brassband in Belgium. With KermesZ à l'est he toured Belgium, but also France, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Romania and Burkina Faso. His musical activity is diverse: guitar and composition in Muziek de Singe, banjo and guitar in KermesZ à l'Est and various toys in Le Jouet Musical. Since September 2009, he also teaches guitar at Le petit théatre de la grande vie in Forzée (Rochefort). He was involved in many projects ranging from reggae to jazz and French chanson.
